Sturge Weber Syndrome is an over abundance of capillaries located in a portion of the brain.  Over time these capillaries calcify and cause learning disabilities, seizures, strokes and potentially death.  The Syndrome is an “orphan” disease which basically means one which does not attract very much public attention, research, or funding, typically because it is extremely rare and poorly publicized.

The amount of children affected is so small neither the federal government nor the drug companies spend money working towards a cure.

Mitch Ribak, Managing Director of Tropical Realty said: “It’s a disease that is very close to my family as my four year old granddaughter, Lola, was diagnosed with the disease six months after birth.”

This year, Tropical Realty was able to increase their donation from $13,000 to approximately $15,000.  In a tough economy they managed to sell out with 140 players along with 39 hole sponsors and a host of other sponsors between $250 and $750.

Founding Sponsor   SCSO.jpg
Space Coast Symphony Orchestra
http://www.spacecoastsymphony.org

The SCSO is a lively and passionate Central Florida professional-level orchestra comprised of professional musicians and select youth players. The symphony performs in a very comfortable venue at the First Baptist Church in Merritt Island, with advance general admission tickets priced at just $10*. School aged children are admitted free of charge.

The Orchestra was formed to provide mentoring and performance opportunities for the finest youth musicians as well as to expose a broad cross section of the community to quality programming at affordable prices.  The ultimate goal of the organization is to help ensure the symphonic tradition for the enjoyment of future generations. Relying on a non-traditional orchestra model and a slim budget, the non-profit group performs year-round in addition to providing dozens of separate and free ensemble performances.
